The developers describe the game like this: “A simple little game that pays tribute to the LCD games of yore. You play as the great serpent Niddhöggr whose restful sleep is interrupted by the intruding roots of the world tree Yggdrasil. Try and block the roots as they come to gnawing distance, but don’t let them grow beyond that. Three misses and you’re done, if you’ve ever played an actual game like this you probably know the drill.”

And haven’t we all, at least the ones old enough like me! This definitely brought me back to my childhood and visiting my grandparents where they had a couple of these Game & Watch type handheld consoles. And this game as well has an actual watch showing the real time! One of my fellow judges complimented the game as having “unique style and a fun idea!” The gameplay is addictive, pace speeding up slowly but surely. My high score was 151, go try and beat that.
